“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go and do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Howard Thurman
It is a rare and wonderful thing when you find that thing in life. For me it has always been taking photos. Recently I have come to realize just how much photography impacts my happiness. To create beautiful images, to tell a story, or give someone the gift of memories… That’s what makes me come alive.
On Saturday a group of us came alive together. Jes & Em curated the perfect day for all of us to enjoy and engage in. Maggie of Inks & Thread taught us about the history of Indigo dying and many techniques we could use. Laura Henley and Alisa Bigham were busy in the kitchen cooking up a stunning meal complete with my favorite; Roasted beets with goat cheese! I had the pleasure of shooting along side Joe & Selah Dodd and you can see their photos from the event here. Kenneth Munoz is working a video of the day and when it is ready I will be sure to share!
If you think you might enjoy a day like this, be sure to stay tuned with Jes & Em for more workshops in the future.
