If I had to describe Alex and Cassi’s Atlanta wedding in three words, they would be: fun, cool, and creative. The couple held their wedding in a brewery courtyard in Midtown. They absolutely transformed the space with colorful decor and the best dressed guests I’ve ever seen! Their Met Gala-themed wedding is one of the most fun and community-oriented events that I’ve been lucky enough to photograph.
Alex and Cassi’s Cool Atlanta Wedding
Alex and Cassi got ready for their wedding at The Bellyard. This boutique hotel in Midtown Atlanta has a moody, modern feel. The neutral decor made a cool contrast to Cassi’s powder blue suit. The couple had their first look in one of the suites. We spent a little time doing portraits there before heading to the ceremony venue.
The ceremony and reception for this Atlanta wedding took place at Monday Night Brewing’s West Midtown location. It’s just down the street from The Bellyard. This Monday Night Brewing location has a taproom available for events, but Cassi and Alex opted to celebrate their wedding in the courtyard.
Even though it was early June, trees shaded everyone from the sun and kept the courtyard comfortable. The florals gave the space a secret garden vibe. Lavender, magenta, and orange accents filled the space. This wedding is such a great example of how you can pick a vibrant palette without your decor looking chaotic.
I documented Alex and Cassi’s wedding with a mix of film and digital photography. Both bring something to telling the story of the day. Digital photography gives clean, bold colors. The film photos feel vibey and timeless. Direct flash gives some of the photos the feeling of a fashion editorial. That compliments the candid photos so well.
A Creative Met Gala Wedding Theme
For their Atlanta Wedding, Alex and Cassi encouraged guests to dress according to a Met Gala theme. Their guests went hard on crafting creative outfits. So many were showstoppers. Guests wore beaded hats, studded corsets, and feathered gowns. Everywhere you looked, vibrant color splashed against the brick walls of the brewery courtyard.
I love that Cassi and Alex wanted their guests to shine as much as they did at their Atlanta wedding. The day went beyond celebrating their love to acknowledging how important their community is.
As a wedding photographer, I love creating that perfect mix of art and storytelling. I had plenty of stunning looks and spontaneous moments to work with at Cassi and Alex’s wedding. This will definitely go down as one of the coolest weddings I’ve photographed!
