What’s more fun than hitting the karaoke bar with your honey? How about ripping around on a minibike, taking a dip in the river, and then hitting the karaoke bar with your honey? If you’re a little wild, a little daring, and a little rock-n-roll, you’re going to love Hannah and Julie’s fun couples photos.
PLANNING A FUN COUPLES PHOTO SESSION
Want to plan your own fun couple’s photo session? Here are a few things to consider:
What do you enjoy doing together? I tell all my couples to treat their photo session like a date night. Pick an activity you really love doing together–grabbing a drink at the corner bar, hiking your favorite trail, snuggling up on the sofa–and build your photo session around that. Trust me, we can create stunning, intimate photos anywhere!
Which outfits and styles make you feel like yourself? You deserve to feel confident during your photo session. For some people, that means wearing a massive, expensive ball gown. For others, it just means throwing on your favorite comfy sweater. Whatever your style, let’s reflect it in your images.
What kind of photos would you want if you knew no one else would see them? Okay, so this question is a bit steamy, but you get the idea! These images are for you and your partner. You don’t have to share them with your Facebook friends if you don’t want to! Get a little goofy, get a little sexy, and make some unforgettable memories with your person.
And another thing: There’s no reason you have to wait for your engagement or wedding to book a photo session! Whether you’re newly dating or you’ve been together for decades, there’s nothing stopping you from getting dolled up and planning a fun photo session with your honey.
COZYING UP FOR AT HOME
I’ve known Hannah and Julie for several years now, so when they reached out about shooting some “just because” couple’s photos, I just knew they were going to bring the party!
As soon as I met up with them, Hannah and Julie shared a couple picklebacks (whiskey shots with pickle juice chasers) before getting comfy for some photos in Hannah’s place. And right off the bat, things got saucy!
Hannah and Julie have such an easygoing, totally-in-love way about them, and they were not at all shy in front of the camera. They smooched, they giggled, and they even stripped down a bit. By looking at these images, you’d think they were just spending a Saturday night together at home, and that’s exactly what we were going for.
SHOWING OFF THEIR VINTAGE STYLE
I’m a huge fan of couples showing off their unique styles during their sessions, and Hannah and Julie absolutely nailed it. Julie owns a vintage shop in Atlanta called Ecologie Vintage, so she and Hannah have an incredible vintage clothing collection. Each outfit they changed into was even better than the last.
And as if these two weren’t already cool enough, they also ride motorcycles! Partway through their photo session, they loaded up one of their minibikes and took me to this secluded little lot to rip around and crush a few beers. It definitely wasn’t a “conventional” couple’s photo session activity, but it fit them perfectly and really showed off their wild side.
REVISITING THEIR FIRST DATE SPOT
One of my favorite things to do with my couples is to revisit their first date spot. Hannah lives right on the water, and she and Julie shared one of their very first dates at this sandy little boat ramp on the shore. After a quick outfit change, we slipped down to the water’s edge to play with the fading light and some direct flash.
It’s truly an honor to work with a couple who trusts me entirely, who walks into their session with zero expectations and lets me play around with them. Hannah and Julie did just that! They needed very little direction, and they let me get funky with my shooting to create these one-of-a-kind shots. As a photographer, I couldn’t ask for more.
ENDING THE NIGHT AT A LOCAL BAR
To finish off the night, we stopped River Drifters for some fried mac and cheese balls (yum) and then headed over to Ziggy’s for a little karaoke. Hannah and Julie and karaoke fiends, so it was only fitting. They sang, drank, and PDA’d the night away, and I snatched adorable photos every step of the way.
I couldn’t be more grateful for couples like Hannah and Julie who commit to showing up as their real, true selves in front of the camera. Love you two!
