Ashley and Sean got married at Tennessee River Place, just outside of Chattanooga, and their entire wedding was a blast from start to finish.

As a Chattanooga-based wedding photographer, I love getting to spend the day capturing my couples’ unique personalities in fun locations, and this day was one for the books.

Tennessee River Place offers the ideal wedding day location with a mix of open space, trees, and a few different buildings spread across the property. It sits on about 135 acres, with open farmland and a stretch of riverfront along the Tennessee River.

At the center of it all is a large Spanish-style mansion, around 10,000 square feet, with patio space overlooking the river.  It is the ideal location for an indoor to outdoor flow.

Getting Ready at Tennessee River Place Chattanooga

The morning started off slow and easy. Ashley was getting ready with her people and nothing felt rushed. No one was watching the clock.

At Tennessee River Place in Chattanooga, there are dedicated getting ready spaces on site. This means you’re not packing everything up halfway through the morning to head somewhere else. You stay where you are, allowing the day to kick off without rushing around.

The guys were also getting ready on location, enjoying the slower pace of the morning.

First Look at Tennessee River Place Wedding Venue

Ashley and Sean did a first look under the arches on the patio.

Sean was already waiting. Ashley walked up behind him, tapped his shoulder, and when he turned around, it was instant joy.

They laughed more than anything, and just soaked in the moment.

A fun moment that I’ve never seen before was when Sean pulled Ashley out to the lawn while holding a shovel. As he began to dig, Ashley looked confused. But when he finally revealed the buried treasure, she laughed excitedly. It was bottle of Old Elk whiskey that they shared together and with the wedding party throughout the day.

A Tennessee River Place Wedding Ceremony

Ashley held it together until all the excitement and intensity of the day hit her at once.

As stepped into the ceremony space and walked down the aisle towards Sean, you could see the exact moment she became overwhelmed with sheer emotion. It was such an authentic and beautiful moment to witness.

The ceremony took place in one of the covered outdoor areas at Tennessee River Place wedding venue. The space itself is simple. Neutral tones, open, and nothing distracting. It still feels fully outside with open air and natural light, but there’s a structure overhead, so you don’t have to worry about last-minute weather changes.

After the ceremony, we moved into portraits.

That’s one of the best parts of Tennessee River Place photos. The property gives you variety without having to leave the space.

There are open grassy areas, tree-lined paths, and gorgeous spots right along the river, all within walking distance. You can achieve different captures without ever stepping away from the location.

Ashley and Sean walked for a bit, sat in the grass, and just soaked it all in.

Why Couples Love Tennessee River Place in Chattanooga

I’ve been to this venue a few times, and it’s one of my favorites

The layout is simple and ceremony areas, reception spaces, and outdoor spots are all close together, so you’re not losing time moving from one place to another.

But what really sets Tennessee River Place in Chattanooga apart is the property itself.

It’s a pretty big property at around 135 acres of farmland and sits on the riverfront along the Tennessee River. There’s a large Spanish-style mansion in the center with a patio that looks out over the water, and it kind of becomes the go-to spot for everyone.

There are also practical things that make a difference. Plenty of restrooms, multiple lounge areas for guests to step away and relax, and the option to bring in a large tent for outdoor setups. The tent space gives flexibility if you want to stay outside while still having coverage.

All of that together is why Tennessee River Place photos feel so consistent. You’ve got variety with the fields, water, and architecture, but it all still feels like one place.

It’s also close enough to downtown that it’s easy for guests. There are plenty of hotels near Tennessee River Place, so people can stay nearby without dealing with long drives.

You get the quiet, open feel of being out by the river, without actually being far from anything.

Reception at Tennessee River Place Wedding Venue

Another fun feature of this wedding was Ashley’s surprise end-of-day outfit change.

This bride cut off some of her hair and swapped her wedding dress for a gold fringed frock. The change brought a completely different vibe to the night.

The reception picked up fast. The dance floor filled quickly, drinks were flowing, and the music never stopped.

One of the biggest advantages of a Tennessee River Place wedding venue is that the indoor and outdoor spaces connect, so guests can move around without feeling disconnected from what’s happening. It keeps the energy moving.
