I love photographing a wedding at home. What better place to see a couple at ease surrounded by their favorite people? For Malynn and Turner, getting married at home wasn’t your typical backyard affair. They tied the knot at Malynn’s family’s horse ranch near Lookout Mountain. Every part of their day included gorgeous, thoughtful details. Their photos show you just how much fun they had dancing the night away!
A Wedding at Home in Lookout Mountain
For Malynn and Turner’s wedding at home, they held all the events around the family’s horse ranch. Malynn got ready in the house with her bridesmaids and family members.
One of the beautiful things about having a wedding at home is that it’s a chance to document the place that means the most to you. Malynn now has these stunning photos of the house and land that are such a central part of her family’s lives.
Before the ceremony, Malynn and Turner had a first look on the edge of a field full of wildflowers. They literally danced through the daisies during our portrait session. I can just imagine what it’ll mean to her whole family to have this moment preserved in the place they love.
Malynn and Turner honestly couldn’t have asked for better weather either. We had blue skies for their vow exchange by the pond. During the wedding ceremony in the hayfield, golden hour cast a cinematic warmth on everything. The bridesmaids, dressed in sunset colors, practically glowed.
Malynn and Turner’s Sentimental Celebration
We took advantage of all the amazing views around Lookout Mountain to take truly amazing photos. Throughout the day, I was able to photograph the wild moments and the quiet ones with the land stretching out behind Malynn and Turner. These photos really highlight the tenderness in their love story.
Getting married at Malynn’s family farm made sense for the couple because horses have always been part of their relationship. Malynn and Turner have known each other since they were in middle school. They didn’t really connect until college when Turner reached out to Malynn to learn more about the rodeo scene around Chattanooga. The rest is history.
Malynn even made the most epic entrance to their ceremony on a horse! I love the portrait of her snuggling her horse in its flower crown before saddling up for the ceremony. Her smile stayed put all night.
After the ceremony, everyone headed to the tent beside the barn for the reception. A few sentimental speeches and dances later, and everyone was ready to party! The band kept everyone on the dance floor late into the night.
