There’s something so classic about a Sewanee Inn wedding. The historic details and access to Sewanee University’s campus make it so unique among Tennessee wedding venues. As a Chattanooga wedding photographer, I love document celebrations at the Sewanee Inn! Loring and Ethan’s wedding is a great example of what’s possible at this beautiful venue.

      Your Sewanee Inn Wedding

A Sewanee Inn wedding takes place, as you might have guessed, at the University of the South. The inn has 43 guest rooms, so you and your guests can stay on site if you prefer. My favorite parts of the inn include the gorgeous staircase leading to the lobby and the banquet hall. Wood paneling and stonework make the inn feel like it’s been there forever.

If you have your wedding at Sewanee Inn, you can have your ceremony at the venue or at All Saints’ Chapel like Loring and Ethan did. There is even outdoor space available for your reception if you’d rather hold it under a tent.

A Sewanee Inn wedding costs a minimum of $15,000. That includes $5,000 for the venue rental fee and a minimum of $10,000 for your food and beverage package. Fortunately, the inn provides all the basics for furniture, dishware, and linens. With over 8,000 square feet of flexible space, this venue can accommodate up to 350 wedding guests.

      Loring and Ethan’s Emotional Wedding

A Sewanee Inn wedding felt right for Loring and Ethan partly because they have family ties. Loring’s dad is the head chef there! Having the inn cater their wedding was only natural.

Loring’s dad was one in a string of people giving funny, sweet toasts at the reception. You could tell how invested everyone was in Loring and Ethan’s happiness. It was amazing to hold space for all those warm feelings. I loved photographing Loring and Ethan’s candid reactions to the speeches.

Since a Sewanee Inn wedding takes place in pretty grand surroundings, Loring wore a dress worthy of the venue. Her dress actually had removable pieces that she could mix and match, including a big bow and pearl sleeves. Between all her changes throughout the night, Loring pulled off four different looks!

These wedding photos show such a variety of emotions. The pre-ceremony portraits are misty with moody lighting inside and out. All Saints’ Chapel looks like a castle from a fairytale.

The reception, on the other hand, felt classic and relaxed. Candles lit the tables and brought extra warmth to the Sewanee Inn’s elegant dining room. After dinner, Loring and Ethan danced the night away with their guests.
